    GUNSIGHT

    gunsight

The Spitfire is equipped with a Barr & Stroud Reflector Sight MkII, unlike the Revi gunsight, it can be set according to the wingspan of the target and the range convergence to help the pilot to improve his fire solution. It also has a sun-filter (which is almost useless in-game anyway).
As shown in the image above you have two wheels that can be turned to set the range of your convergence (wheel above) and the target wingspan (wheel below). After the reflector sight is set correctly when the target's wingtips will match the two horizontal bars you know it will be in range:

    range

Wingspans for 4.5 enemy planes (in feet):
    Bf-109: 32
    Bf-110: 53
    Ju87: 45
    Ju88: 66
    Do17: 59
    He111: 74
    G50: 36
    Br20: 70

    AMMO & BELT

The Spitfires available on Blitz all use the "A wing" version armed with eight .303 Browning machine guns.
The belt can be set in-game using the loadouts or editing the user.ini file

The best ammo that a pilot should load in his belt is a good combination of:
    - AP that are necessary because they can penetrate armour or do a major damage to vital points like the engine.
    - Incendiary/explosive are needed to ignite fuel and destroy the surface control. Since they have a soft head they cannot penetrate thick armour (that's why AP are needed).
    - Tracer if you need them

The most effective belt seems to be a combination of:
Armour Piercing, W, .303 inch, Nitrocellulose, Mark Iz
Incendiary, B, .303 inch, Nitrocellulose, Mark VIz, "De Wilde"
If you want you can use some tracer in the middle guns to see where your bullets go. You can use incendiary or ball tracer.

More info about the ammunition used on British plane can be found on the TF wiki page (www.theairtacticalassaultgroup.com...=raf_ammunition) and here (www.quarryhs.co.uk/WW2guneffect.htm)

    CONVERGENCE

There are two aspects that one must keep in mind when setting his own convergence. The difference between Horizontal and Vertical one.

    converg

The horizontal convergence let set how far the MG will hit while the Vertical convergence determines how much the MG will compensate for gravity drop.
Some pilot prefers to have a close horizontal conv. while others prefer a longer one. generally speaking an average about distance could be between 250 and 350 meters. Horizontal and vertical don't have to match. A standard vertical conv is around 400mts.
Every pilot should adapt the settings to its own preference.

N.B. Convergence in the loadout menu are all in meters. So you'll need to convert them in yards to set your gunsight properly.

Tip: An higher Vertical convergence can helps during very high deflection shot.
